BOLERO is unique art composition of 21 art works created by Michael Rogatchi in 2000-2002. Twenty one art works grouped in three panels which together forms the composition. At the same time, twenty one works of Bolero can be exhibited in one large composition, with variable distances between the works.
In this composition, the artist was examining the ongoing struggle for freedom using the images of well-known traditional phenomenon in the new reading of its different aspects. In this stunning composition, Michael Rogatchi explores the inner psycho and souls refections of both human being and animals. His sympathy goes to picador horses whose eyes were bounded, by the traditional rules. In his multi-character composition, the artist looks deep into souls of every personage present in Bolero: torreros, picadors, people in the audience, animals at the corrida ring – bulls and horses.
The artist has said that his ‘ three years’ working process on BOLERO is a story in itself’. The work has started from just one painting which has become later the central part of the composition. “Only after first six month of work on BOLERO did I know how the whole composition was going to look”, – said the artist.
In his special Bolero art brochure, Michael conveys the history of his three years’ work on this outstanding art composition, and also tells on his thoughts and meaning in particular episodes of his works and its various personages.
