DREAMS portfolio represents Michael Rogatchi’s drawings on various subjects, as separate from his numerous drawings on music and Jewish heritage.
In these drawings, the artist reflects on various topics, both as studies for his works in oil or mixed technique, or as independent works.
One can see that in the artist’s creative search, close-range portraits of people and artistic research of a movement plays serious role.
Michael believes that drawing is the best technique for disclosing delicate human emotions, and he examines an array of subtle emotions in his drawings.
He also is interested in dynamics of movement, and believes that movement is indispensable part of any qualified art. In his drawings, Michael spends a lot of effort on variety of movement in his works, and it is distinctive in his drawings.
Some of those drawings – such as Firenze Dream, Portrait of Horse, Venice Walks, D’Artagnan’s portrait has become highly critically acclaimed and were reproduced widely internationally.
Among the works in this portfolio also such rare work as study for the artist’s self-portrait. Michael is known as the artist who is atypically extremely reluctant to create his self-portraits. During his career, there are only two of them exist.
