Etudes: Drawings

COLLECTION OF DRAWINGS ON MUSIC

Michael Rogatchi is known for his extensive ouevre on various genres of music, from classical music to jazz. This collection of drawings represents both studies for certain works and independently created drawings.

As Michael has discovered in his works, each genre of music demands special attitude in its picturing, and the role of study for those works is possibly higher than it is for the artworks depicting the other subjects. Michael’s works on music are known for its very special quality – when a viewer almost hears a sound of music, straight from Michael’s canvases and drawings. Such quality is reached by deep understanding and mastership of the artist with regard to dynamics of performing musicians.

Some series of Michael’s on music are unique, as Mozartiana.

As it rarely happened in art, an entire Mozartiana collections of works created in three different techniques, has originated from Michael’s one drawings of his beloved composer, Mozart, and the special image he had created for his Amadeus back in 1991.

His expressive drawing has become popular and are acquired by notable collectors in Finland, Italy, Austria, France, the UK, the USA and other countries.

In a forthcoming project, a book Music in Pictures will present the best Michael’s drawings dedicated and featuring his love to and understanding of music.
