Homages is collection of Michael Rogachi’s artworks dedicated to the mighty figures of culture, writers, poets, artists, composers, musicians, actors, and some historical public figures, as well. All those people are important for Michael personally, and they were created in different periods of Michael’s art career. It worth to note that additional to this series of Homages, Michael has created several series of such extended homages and tributes, rendering certain major cultural figures as a phenomenon, as it is in case with his beloved composer Mozart in Michael’s Mozartiana series, and another important for him composer Astor Piazzolla in his Libertango. Homage to Piazzolla series. Many other cultural figures have been noted in Michael’s art, such as several composers and some literary personages, in the way of cultural associative reference. Some of the outstanding people to whom Michael dedicated his artworks, are or were known by the artist personally – such as Elie Wiesel, Leonard Cohen, maestro Rostropovich, maestro Kissin, composer Anatolius Senderovas, actor Juhan Viiding, as well as Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal and famous dissident Vladimir Bukovsky. This personal connection has played serious role in the way of the creation of the special homages by the artist.
